When is the best time of year to visit the Panama Canal? We would like a full transit of the canal.
Which cruise line would you recommend?

You might want to try Grand Circle Travel I once took their Panama trip and it included going through the canal on a small 10 cabin yacht. We actually stayed in the inland lakes on the canal for a few days. This is part of their small group travel.

There no "best" time of the year - just different times. The canal will look and operate the same no matter what time of year. Temperatures are about the same year round. There's slightly less rainfall between December and April vs. May though November.

If we decide to just fly to Panama, and then take tours there of the canal-any suggestions of hotels near canal and tours available for seniors? How is the best way to transit the canal?

I would definitely want to do it during dry season. There is a very significant difference in rain between October and February, for example.
