Panama Beer

We like to drink the beer(s) of the countries we visit. What is your recommendation for a Panama beer?

MY HUSBAND DRANK iMPERIAL THROUGHOUT OUR TRIP. MEXICAN BEERS WERE AVAILABLE AT A MUCH HIGHER COST. I THINK THERE WAS ONE OTHER, AT LEAST.

OOPS - Sorry, I thought I was in the Costa Rica thread. Imperial is Costa Rican. I haven't been to Panama in several years and have forgotten the berr there.

I don't remember what the local beer is (but it was good) but I do have a funny tale.

We spent two days/one night on Wichup Walla, one of the small islands in the San Blas chain. One afternoon's excursion was being taken to a deserted island and left for a couple of hours . . . supposedly for the beauty, the swimming/snorkeling, etc.

We jokingly said we would not go without a cooler of beer and they said OK. We get to the island, stretch out our ground cloth, get our book, reach in the cooler, and guess what kind of beer? Old Milwaukee! We laughed ourselves silly about that.

We LOVEed Panama, it's a great destination and not overrun with tourists yet.

The two most popular beers in Panama are Panama and Balboa. Personally I prefer Panama.
