Palladium Grand Resort

We are wondering how the area is right off the beach for snorking? How bad are the rocks? Was there a lot of activities during the day?

I'm also interested in this resort. Any info you can give will be much appreciated. We are thinking of going there next month. What's the food like? How are the rooms, beach etc? Thanks!

I'm also thinking about this resort...ounds like a lot of people are checking this place out. How far away from the town of Playa de Carmen is this resort. Is it a quiet resort? Is is a party resort? Flat surf? Also heard alot about rocks and rough water??Which resort does this compare to? thanks

I stayed at the Palladium in Dec 2003.
The rocks problem is vastly exaggerated - if you walk down the beach about 100 feet (in front of the Kantenah section of the resort) - there are no rocks. I found snorkeling was OK off the beach but nothing special. The food is varied and overall quite good. The beach is nice and long. Rooms are are attractive and kept very clean - However most rooms have 2 double beds - if you want a king-sized bed - you should put in a special request. It is a resort that caters to families and couples - we did not find it noisey at all. During the day there were various activities going on around the main pool. We are beach people so we spent most of our time on the beach in front of the Kantenah section. When we were there the water was not rough at all. It is about a 20 minute drive to Playa Del Carmen.
Overall: we liked the resort and would return.

Just want to second what JMM said. The beach is very nice. As JMM said, the further you go north the better the beach. There are still plenty of chairs and huts there. For pics and TR look here: http://www.ngcsu.edu/Academic/Bus_Go...xRiv/mrhom.htm
