Palermo Sojo Area/Boutique Hotel
I love the hotels that I've found in this area. But I can't get a handle on the location. My couple-of-years-old Frommer's map doesn't even list Palermo anywhere.
We would love to stay here, but do want a City Tour and want to experience other neighborhoods as well. Of course Ricolleta. Is it a pain for transportation? And what about lunch places? We tend to eat our big meal midday - got used to that in Italy! Thanks for your comments and ideas. |
Hoping for a reply....

Lonely Planet has a map on-line that includes Palermo. It will give you a rough idea of location. Palermo Soho is one of the best places in Buenos Aires for lunch. There are dozens of bistros and fancier restaurants that offer luncheon specials, including two or three courses and a drink for approximately US6 or less (18 pesos)....
Taxis are very inexpensive. The cost to Recoleta from Palermo Soho is about U$2... US 3-4 to downtown...and maybe US 5-6 to San Telmo. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldgui...a/buenos-aires |
Thank you SO much. This is just what I needed. We have found a great boutique hotel - nearly new - and wanted to stay there.
Any of those lunch places you would recommend? I'm hungry just reading about them. We have to try the lomo and the malbec.... And then we want to take a train to the Tigre Delta and then a boat and drift around for a while. Ah, Argentina. Finally getting to go. |

Social Paraiso Bar 6 Bar Uriarte Cluny or, simply, the places you discover on your own while walking around.... |
Social Paraiso, Honduras 5182, Palermo Viejo. T el. 4831 4556.Although it has a small menu, all of the dishes are expertly prepared. The cuisine is Mediterranean-inspired, and includes chicken, steak, Patagonian Lamb, fish, rabbit & Pasta. Less than $15 for appetizer, entree and dessert. Don't miss the Ruca Malen Malbec, at U$10 a bottle it is a bargain..or by the glass for about U$2 per glass.

This sounds perfect. Now to figure out where it is from our hotel!
Our address is: Bonpland 1665 (supposedly in the heart of Palermo Sojo) Do you know of a map of this area? I'm sure they will have something at the hotel, but I always like to plan things out in advance. At night we want to go to the Cafe Tortoni to see some Tango. What is your opinion about that venue? Thanks for the help. Brahmama |
