Outdoor Recreational Activities in BA
What outdoor activities are popular for weekend warriors in the BA area?
Are their cycling clubs, rock climbing, kayaking, sailing, marathons? etc? I'll be in baires for a month in March and I would like to play outside on weekends. :) Also, can you recommend a good gym near hospital de las clinicas? |
My kinesiologist is a triathlon competitor. I'll ask him on Monday.
And, BTW, Doc, it is "Hospital de Clínicas". LOL!!! |
GRRRR, Alberto if you correct me one more time, I will hit you on your knee. LOL
Joking aside, how is your knee doing? If your pain is chronic after replacement surgery, I'd go back to your doc and see if you have fluid or calculus built up. |
Aw, Doc, you wouldn't do that!
Remember Hippocrates? More seriously, the point is how long after is "after", meaning how long after the operation should I not feel any pain? I'm told the operation is too recent (two months ago) and it will be more like six months for all the swelling and that kind of thing to be gone completely. |
Healing time of course depends on your age, condition of your knee, joints etc.
Many people are back in the gym after a few months and able to workout on the stationary bicycle after a few months with minimal discomfort. I think it is a good idea to rule out things like arthritis or fluid/calculus buildup if you are having severe pain. |
Thank you, Doc.
I'd say I have "discomfort", not "severe pain". |
Hi dario
There are many outdoor activies to do in Buenos Aires. I think you can understand Spanish, what´s great since most the links are in Spanish only: For cycling, you can go to Circuito KDT: http://www.circuitokdt.com.ar/ This is a cycling circuit where you can take your own bike or rent one for the hour. For running you can go to Parque 3 de Febrero, there are 2 big lakes surrounded by jogging paths. Also on weekends there are free activities provided by the City of Buenos Aires, like gym classes, basketball games, etc. The same goes for the area near Costanera Sur. If you like water activities the best place to go is El Tigre, for rowing, kayaking, wakeboarding, etc: http://www.vivitigre.gov.ar/?load=se...1&time=dia Another great place where you will find all the activities you like is outside Buenos Aires, in San Isidro, but you can easily get there with Tren de la Costa, right on Barrancas Station: http://www.peru-beach.com.ar/ You can play golf at the Municipal Golf Course. They charge a small fee for the day use and rent all the equipment. Gym: Sport Club has several locations around Buenos Aires, this is the closest to Hospital de Clinicas: http://www.sportclub.com.ar/sedes/paraguay/ Now your only problem is that a month has only four weekends! |
Wao Bea, thanks so much for all of this information.
