Osa Peninsula with Small Kids

Hi,

We will be traveling with an almost 4 year old and an 18 month old. Is the Osa Peninsula too intense and hot for kiddos this small? Would you recommend any place there for a family with small kids? Thanks very much!

We just spent 5 days in the Golfo Dulce - just across from the Osa with our 7 and 10 year old. We found 7 was on the young end of the preferable age for kids there but that may have more to do with where we were and what we did. Our lodge was very remote and we did a lot of hiking and swimming. Because of things like snakes and spiders the kids really have to stay on the trails - which may be harder to manage with younger kids! The heat is intense as is the humidity - depends on what they are used to. Our lodge recommends age 6 and up. We found our 10 year old had much more stamina for the trails (some were quite steep) and our 7 year old just wanted to hang at the beach and snorkel (another activity she would not have been able to do at a younger age.)
I hope this helps. I hate to dissuade any visitors to this beautiful part of the world....maybe just wait a few years? Or find a place with a pool etc but then you may as well not spend the money to get to the Osa...
Our children loved their time there and will remember it for years to come.

We just got back from the Golfo Dulce and Osa regions. Both were fabulous but, as noted, very hot and humid. I think the hiking, etc. would be very strenuous for small children. We did see children of all ages at Bosque del Cabo where we stayed in the Osa. There is a pool but I'm afraid you would miss a lot of the attraction of this lovely area, which is the jungle and all of its sights and sounds
