Osa Peninsula five nights too long?
 

Hello Suzi2 and Everyone
I can rent a house at Cabo Matapalo (tip of the Oso) Is 5 nights too long because of heat and humidity? Only have 2 weeks in the country, last of June-first part of July.

Well, I don't think the issue would be the heat and humidity, that is everywhere in CR! I would think that the issue would be finding enough to do for 5 days without getting bored! There is only so much hiking you can do, and while you can find some horseback riding, kayaks and fishing, it's such a quiet place that I found 3 nights my limit. However, If you want to really get away for peace and quiet and relative islolation, 5 nights might be fine for you.

We rented Casa Bambu in Matapalo for 3 nights. Yes it's hot and humid, but we had a really wonderful time hiking and enjoying the wildlife. It depends on how much you like nature and tranquility. Our house was located on the beach and in the back were trails that led to refreshing waterfalls. On our hikes we saw Tucans, Scarlet Macaws, Bats, Sloths, White-Faced Capuchin Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, Spider Monkeys, Coati, Agouti and some type of black animal that looked like it had the head of a cat and the body of a weasel. Each morning we enjoyed our coffee while watching the titi(squirrel) monkeys eating bananas out of the trees in our yard. Lapa Rios has a wonderful restaurant and accepts reservations from non-guests. Other than the extreme heat and humidity, the only other downside is that when it gets dark there's nothing to do. During these hours we enjoyed listening to the sounds of the ocean waves and the Howler Monkeys. We definitely could have stayed a couple of more days.

I think our rental of Casa La Luz which may be next to Casa Bambu is set in stone, so I am encouraged by your response! The animals sound wonderful, and they are why we want to go, along with being near the ocean. I really appreciate getting some answers to questions. Thanks for your time; it means a lot!
