Peace Lodge is worth the splurge, if only one time. Don't do it, though, unless you can allow plenty of time there, and two nights. It's a total experience, and fabulous! They do, indeed, do a little price gouging, I believe, especially with the loss of the free breakfast (ridiculous), but still, throw it in with the standards of the world's hotels and resorts, and it's not a bad price for what you get. I have to keep reminding myself that. Everyone needs to go there once and soak up the place for a couple of days!

We are staying at www.flyingtoucans.com I saw it posted on this board by austintraveler and it looks exactly like what I wanted for the end of our trip. My husband and I love to grill on our deck at home, drink cocktails and gaze at our tiny mountain view. To do this with these views looks absolutely amazing to me! If you know anything about the area (I do not) please let me know.

millie, not positive but I believe the owners of Shelter from the Storm, Daryl & Donna, manage FlyingToucans. Great people. Lots to do in the area! So many different beaches, the small surfer town of Dominical, Rancho La Merced, Nauyaca Falls, Hacienda Baru, etc. Lots of good eats too in the area, all relatively cheap.
