Osa Lodging

Help! My husband and I have six nights to spend in Osa this March. I'm torn on which lodge and which area of Osa we should stay at. After reading through posts, I had my heart set on Bosque del Cabo, but unfortunately they only have availability for our first 2 nights. Would you stay there and transfer somewhere else? Or just try to find one place to stay for the entirety. Lapa Rios is booked for our stay, are there any other resorts that are in the same category?

Should we stay on the PJ side of Osa? What about Drake Bay? Drake Bay Wilderness resort has availablity for our entire stay. I haven't heard back from La Paloma Lodge. Is it doable to transfer from PJ to Drake Bay?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

We soon will be spending 6 nights in the Osa. 4 at Bosque and 2 at Iguana Lodge.

So yes I would definitely recommend splitting up your time to experience to different lodges and/or two different areas.

At Bosque we are having to switch rooms.

You might also want to look at Aguila de Oso, at Drake Bay. I was there years ago and found it to be quite nice.

Casa Corcovado is on the top of my list for places to stay next time I am in the DB area of the Osa. It gets great reviews on a lot of the other boards.

At certain times of the year there are flights that stop in Drake Bay on their way to and from Puerto Jimenez. I made two trips to PJ last year and both times stopped in DB first. On one return trip we stopped in Quepos. If you decide to split the time up between Bosque and a place in DB I would have Leonardo (at Bosque del Cabo) make the flight arrangements for you. They aren't posted on the airlines pages and it would be easier for you to have him do it. He would then be confirming your flights and could notify you of any changes while you are at Bosque.

Seconding Jessie's recommendation of Casa Corcovado on the Drake Bay side of Osa. Wonderful location with path directly into the Park. Beautifully landscaped grounds. Nice tours and guides provided from there (trip to Cano Island, hike into the park, etc.) Very nice staff. Nice private beach at the foot of the property, which is set back and up from the beach. Current rough when we were there in Feb a few years ago -- but not unusual for CR. Great scarlet macaw sitings on the beach, lots of great wildlife in the Park. Try for casita #1 (I THINK). We admired that one when we were there -- for its more isolated location. Casitas are duplexes. Nice but not fancy. Outdoor bar area is nice, along with screened indoor restaurant. Food average - but we never go to CR for gourmet food. We loved this place!

Thanks for the low-down, Glover. Sounds like a great place to stay!
