Orbitz?

Has anyone booked your hotel stay in Mexico through Orbitz? We're thinking of staying at Ceiba del Mar this fall. Orbitz has the lowest prices I've found anywhere on the web and thru local travel agents, but the Orbitz site is very skimpy about what is and isn't included other than meal plans. I was wondering if when we got there, we would be charged extra for all the things that come with the regular room rate, like gym, continental breakfast, etc. Also how is Orbitz when you need to talk to someone there? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I have been using Orbitz for years and have generally found the best prices there. I did have one instance a few years back with some confusion over paper tickets and ticketless travel where I ran into a big hassle at the airport in Mexico City. In this one instance I wanted to speak to them about the issue- they were unresponsive and I finally gave up. I have booked hundreds of flights through them and two vacations packages. With the one istance being the only problem. Generally what you see is what you get. I about am about to buy a ticket to Europe via Orbitz as I can't find a better price after checking the airlines themselves, Kayak, etc.

I used Orbitz a couple years ago for a hotel in St. Kitts. It was significantly cheaper, and all was well with the rental. Even though I ended up changing some days.

I have used Orbitz to book air to Europe 4 times in the last 4 years. I have also used them many times to book hotels in the States. I have always been happy with their service and have always been able to get the best prices thru Orbitz. No complaints at all.

Thanks to all. At first, the rate they give doesn't include taxes & fees (almost $100 per day). But even with those figured in, their rate is better than the other sites I've found.

Also check on arrival to see if things are included that Orbitz doesn't advertise. We took a great vacation in Guanjuato at Christmas time that I booked on Orbitz. Every morning I walked down the street to buy coffee and pastries as I wanted to save money on breakfast in the fancy place we were staying. After a couple of days the staff asked me why we were not having our choice of breakfast that was included in our room price daily.

We used Orbitz for the first time this month for our trip to Cancun. It was posted on another board they were giving a $200 off credit if booked within certain dates. I called them and they had the cheapest prices of anywhere I could find. We booked our AI vacation to Cancun with no problems. Will consider using them again.

Just make sure when you book it's the exact destination, dates, and hotel. You will be charged ridiculous fees if you cancel or try to change anthing.

Read the fine print on the web-site for what is/is not included and if your not sure call and ask. We had a Orbitz Rep greet us in the lobby when we arrived to make sure everything was OK and to book our return tranfers to the airport. They sent me reminder e-mails that our trip was coming up and the day before airport info. Very nice.

We went ahead & booked with Orbitz for Ceiba del Mar in September. Got a good price with 30% discount for booking at least 90 days in advance. I was impressed when I called the Orbitz phone number to clarify some things & got a live rep right away. Thanks for all the feedback.
