one night in Dominical

Does anyone have a recommendation for a one night stay in Dominical? We'll be traveling with our 13 and 15 year olds so we'd like to be able to have at least a separate room for them as well. Thanks in advance!

Have you looked at the Rio Mar? My 17 yr old stayed there this summer with a group - loved it. They have a pool, so there is something for the "down time". Also a restaurant and snacks on property. Quite a bit of surf action in town/beach.

Kim, I have. Unfortunately they are booked on the day that we'll be in Dominical; that's why I'm looking for an alternative! Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Try Pacific Edge. I've heard good things about it, including on this board. Owned by an English couple, but I think there are just 4 cabins.

Just south of Dominical is Dominicalito. Here you can try Costa Paraiso, Coconut Grove, and Roca Verde. Someone who has spent a lot of time there suggested these places to me when we were planning to spend a couple of nights there in July. Unfortunately, rain took out a bridge south of the area as we were on the way in a taxi, and we couldn't get across from where we were. I think they are all on the beach (or at least a couple of them).

Thanks for the suggestions. I've spoken with Susan at the Pacific Edge and they're doing some remodeling on the bungalow with two adjoining rooms. She's kindly offered me two separate cabins, but with this being our first night in Costa Rica, I'm not certain my children are going to go for spending the first night in different cabins. I'll look into the others you've suggested shillmac. Thanks again, I appreciate all suggestions!

Have you looked into Villas Gaia? It's about a 45-minute drive south of Villas Rio Mar area....nice rooms, great swimming pool with beautiful view of the ocean, restaurant has better food than Villas Rio Mar, and near some lovely, deserted beaches...at least they were not crowded in November

Pacific Edge is wonderful. The cabins are right next to each other - so can't imagine your 13 and 15 year olds wouldn't be thrilled to have their own next to Mom & Dad's. We stayed there in May and loved it. Another I had written to in Dominical (actually south of Dominical - perhaps more like Uvita -- was La Cusinga. If you do a search on this board for La Cusinga someone (with kids) did a rave review of it. Also I believe they have a web site.

Oooh -- another suggestion that you and the kids might like down there -- Hacienda Baru. They've got a reserve right there. Lots to do on the property itself. It's about a mile (?) up the dirt road from Dominical (the one that continues on to Manuel Antonio.
We spent time on the reserve and were interested in staying there, but they were booked (it too is a small property).

I second the vote for Hacienda Baru. We stayed there this summer with our 13 and 15 year old daughters. Our cabin (and I think all the cabins) had 3 bedrooms, a livingroom, and small kitchen facilities. They have a good restaurant on the property and a beautiful beach (though it's supposed to be very rough for swimming). There are lots of activities available and the people there are incredibly friendly. It's definitely not a resort, though, if you're looking for something fancy.
