Oaxaca to Taxco
 

Does anyone know of a bus service from Oaxaca to Taxco. We only have 6 days and want to do a circuit from Mexico City to Puebla to Oaxaca to Taxco & back to Mexico City. Is this too rushed? I'd really love to see the silver & studos in Taxco. Has anyone been there?

I think its too rushed. There is plenty to see and enjoy in Oaxaca for 6 days and it would clearly be my choice of the destinations you mention. If you made your connections well just the time in the bus would be about 10 hours each way. As far as Taxco, I was just there for the first time in ten years. I really enjoyed it but was surprised how much the traffic had picked up and the racket the VW taxis make all the time (not that the traffic hasn't picked up in Oaxaca too). Anyway my choice wwould be Oaxaca, there are a few places to buy silver and there are lots of locals handicrafts to shop for. In my mind, the only argument for your proposed roadtrip is you would see a lot of Mexico and much varied scenery. On the other hand you could bus at night and have more time at your destination although as I saidI would just enjoy Oaxaca.

We're flying into Mexico City late Dec & are meeting other family in San Miguel for a week after this part of the trip. We leave Mexico on the 3 Jan. I need to book accomodation for the first part but am having a hard time deciding. I'd love to see the Taxco as am very interested in jewellery making but cant work out how to fit it all in. Oaxaca also sounds great but is that much further away.

Six days is a rush since Taxco is out of your circle trip. I would head straight to Oaxaca (6 hrs) and see how you like it. If you really want to see all 4 places in 6 days...heres how you could do it. Oaxaca to Puebla (3 hours). Puebla to Cuernavaca (3 hrs.) Stay in Cuerna and do Taxco as a daytrip (1 1/2 hrs). _Cuerna has direct busses to the airport ( 1 1/2 hrs)
There is no bus from Oaxaca to Taxco, you have to go Puebla-Cuerna (change bus)-Taxco.

You could go:
Mexico- Oaxaca
Oaxaca-Puebla
Then Puebla-Taxco there´s a local bus that departs daily at 8:00 am, it's 4 hours time.
