avrooster:

Woodie here. My wife and I would like very much to meet for a Forum Members Dinner. Our travel detail is not yet firm. We celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary this fall and rather than have a party at home, we have elected to take our three daughters and their partners on a weeks cruise to the Galapagos. This will be the second week of January. After that, we plan to go to Machu Picchu, Lago Titicaca and then to Buenos Aires.

Some friends in Punte del Este, Uruguay want us to visit with them and we will spend a short time there.

One daughter and partner will be joining us for some of the extended travel and will meet up with us in Bs. As.

Their plan is not yet solidified so we do not have a date as yet when we will be in Bs. As. [Uruguay earlier or later?]

I do know that we will be returning home from Bs. As. on March 15, 2009 so we are sure to be there at least a few days beforehand, perhaps more.

If our daughter will be in Bs. As. at the time of this dinner, we would not want to abandon her so that is the only hitch that I can think of.

Thanks for inviting me.

Woodie

Thank you,Georgewoody for your thoughts about the guides, Only afew times I felt like a servant with some people, but most of americans are really nice people. I would also like to join for a dinner in BA but "duties call me" I cannot! But if you come to SALTA one day, I will be pleasd to invite some empanadas.
Thank you, chicagomaria and foopher for your comments. Buby is a good guide and nice person, honest and reliable.
Thank you so much in name of Buby.
Flintstones.

Angie: maybe someday we'll have a forum members' dinner in Salta and we'll all expect you to be the host.

After all, you are the Salta expert, aren't you?

Just kidding, you'll be my guest, of course. LOL!!!

Woodie: March is wonderful in BA, as you well know. I hope we'll be able to meet at that time.

Keep in touch and good travels.

My first time in Bs. As. was early November [spring]. We left Canada's winter around noon and arrived in Bs. As. at noon.

My first impression was a giant hacaranda [spelling?] tree downtown full of blooms.

I will never forget that beautiful sight.

It is "jacarandá", Woodie and we are friends with another Canadian couple who comes here every year, mid-January/mid-March. They'll be delighted to meet you.

What restaurant[s] are used for the forum dinner? Can you provide a street or location? How would I find out the date and time?

Hi, Woodie!

An old thread was "brought to the top" recently. It is titled:

Trip Report Santiago, Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Montevideo

My e-mail address is mentioned in it. We usually arrange the details "off the board".

In principle, we go wherever the visitors want to go. In the recent "October Forum dinner" thread you can see how the idea evolves, until it becomes real.
