night tour?

Hello!!

We're a week away from our first trip to Costa Rica! I'm wondering whether anyone recommends hiring a guide for a night tour for Monteverde and/or Manuel Antonio. We're staying at both places, but I'm not sure whether night hikes are good in a cloud forest where it's cooler, or near the beach where it's warmer (i.e., will more animals be out to see at night)? Or, would you recommend a guide for daytime tours?

Thank you so much!

We did a night hike at Hidden Valley in Monteverde. It was fun - we saw a fox and a porcupine which were both new to us. Sometimes you only see insects, frogs, and snakes so you never know. I wouldn't bother with a night hike in Manuel Antonio. Go to the national park during the day. Manuel Antonio Expeditions is great if you want to do a guided tour. Tons of monkeys and sloths in MA, but better to see them during the daytime. We even saw some at our hotel when we stayed at Tulemar Bungalows.
