Next edition of "Fodor's Cancun & the Riviera Maya [...]

Dear Gents,

I am sorry if this question is "off topic" as I couldn't get any information at the "contact us" section. My name is Diego from Uruguay, I am a great fan and customer of your Travel Guides to the Riviera Maya (Fodor's Cancun & the Riviera Maya: with Cozumel & the Best of the Yucatan (Full-color Travel Guide). I have used them in the past and presented them as gifts to several friends of mine who have visited that area too, and them too, found it of great use!
Currently, I am planning another visit to that particular area of Mexico on June, 2018.

As I can see, Fodor's website, the last edition of the Travel Guide is 2015. I remember asking Fodor's in 2014 about the rate of releasing that particular guide, and they told me that they were abandoning releasing one by each year.
Ok! If the current edition of this particular guide is 2015... I guess that the next one is supposed to be released this year 2017. I am correct?

Thanks in advance, keep up the good work, and hoping to hear from you soon,

Cheers!

Diego O.

>>I guess that the next one is supposed to be released this year 2017. I am correct?<<

I don't think there is a specific schedule. Some guides are revised more often than others.

Have you tried asking here:

https://www.fodors.com/contact-us/ then click on the Recommendations, Comments, and Questions link . . .

Hi Janis!

Thanks for your quick answer. You are right about what you say. They started releasing that particular guide on an annual basis but Fodor's abandoned that practice (they answered that to me on 2014)
Just as you said, I tried contacting Fodor's by that link you showed me, but I got NO answers in 2 occasions.
I don't know what's the purpose of a "contact us" Section if no one is behind it answering the incoming messages . A pity.

Thanks again Janis and let's hope there will be a new one... 2015 edition will be outdated for 2018.

Cheers!

Diego O.

I don't know of any publisher that puts out a new edition every year, it would cost too much and the info doesn't change that much. People should check with websites for hours of attractions, etc., anyway if really important. Lonely Planet does theirs every 2 yrs and Rough Guides only every 3 years, for example, at least for places like Mexico.

Thanks Christina,

I understand what you mean. But I was just trying to find out with the Editorial of Fodor's firsts, and then with it's public, if there was a guide for this particular area projected for the near future (2017 or 2018)
Unluckily, no one is behind the "contact us" section.
It's very odd, as they were very kind answering that same question when I made it to them on 2014. (By the way, until 2015, they were putting out one every each year for this area of Mexico)
As we are near the end of 2017, is logical to expect another one this year or perhaps the next one.
Thanks for the names of the other guided too.

I will keep in mind internet for updates on the Guide's info.

Cheers!

Diego O.

Sure they do sky fire, just try publishing something that is not politically correct and they will be quick to respond...

Hi Rohelio,

So it seems. So far.. no answer from the "contact us" section.
Very SAD to get NO official answer from Fodor's itself.

It makes me seriously think not to buy any more their guides with such a terrible customer support.

Thanks anyway.

Diego.

I think the "contact us" link has not been working since they started the renovation of the site and the migration to VB (a different forum software). I expect that once the site is migrated, we will be easily able to contact Fodors staff. I know it doesn't help right now. Sorry.

I see no reason to expect this, but we'll find out soon enough.

I think that printed guides are going the way of the dinosaur.

Hi Diego -- did you actually write an email to our Editors about this? Use the email address [email protected] and they should get back to you! If not, get my attention and I'll find out for you.

Hi all!

Thanks again for your answers.
IBobi, In reference to your question. I sent 2 emails, one on the 9th and the other on the 19th of November 2017 to that same email address and I got NO answer at all from them. SAD.
I also sent messages with the same request of information, by the "contact us" section, I think 3 or more times... NO answer at all. SAD again.
Please, if you can help me here, I will appreciate it.

Cheers,

Diego O.

Well, bye bye Fodor's Forum. Note even reporting my own post to the Administrators/websmasters was enough to call their attention and get any "official" answer from them.
I have already bought some "Moon's" tourists guides to this area as they are newer editions that the current one from Fodor's.
A real pity.
I couldn't even call the attention of Ibobi as there's not "send message" to the user... so... HOW could I call anyone attention?

Anyway... really disappointed with Fodor's...and NEVER got an answer from the contact us section....

Bye bye...I will return to Tripadvisor where users are cared by the website.

Diego O.

PD: Thanks for the users who cared and answered they best they could my question.

The website & forum is owned by a different company than it was 3 years ago.

And the new owners keep promising us that their new site--which looks like 1986--will be much better in every way. Given their treatment of this one and the downright unprofessional moderation that goes on, I highly doubt that. Bye bye, Fodor's Forum, indeed.
