Need Suggestions for Guatemala
 

We will be in Guatemala next year - a week tour through a non-profit a friend works with. As part of the tour, we will visit various remote villages that the non-profit works with, but we will also have time in Antigua and Lake Atitlan. Since the tour is only a week, we were planning to stay longer (up to an additional week). What would you suggest we add to our trip, which is our first trip to Guatemala (or any part of Central American)?

Highlights for me would be Antigua, Lake Atitlán, and Tikal (and maybe Yaxhá) in the north. My photos with blog, travelogue, and review links on the main page of each collection are below in case you're interested - all my recommendations are embedded there. Happy trails!
