Please stay in Ipanema or Leblon in Rio. Praia Ipanema Hotel for a moderate category hotel, and Marina All Suites for more upscale. Hotel das Cataratas is the place to stay in Iguacu Falls on the Brazilian side. It is the only hotel overlooking the falls in the National Park.
Feel free to call me. I have 2 excellent guides in Rio! http://www.SouthAmericanEscapes.com/blog |
I am helping a friend look for on the beach hotel on Ipanema or Copacabana. Their budget is up to $150.00 per night. They want a hotel on the beach were they can be served drinks. Any suggestions?
Thanks |
There is only 1 hotel that is actually "ON" the beach. The Arpoador Inn.. All others are across the street from the beach.

While the Arpoador is sort of on the beach, it's a small old hotel in a great location. There is a restaurant and cafe on the "boardwalk" in front of the Arpoador Inn but there will be no beach service.
Rio doesn't have resort type hotels like Cancun does, most of the hotels are on a major street and you have to walk across the street to get to the beach. On the beach they have stands they call barracas that rent chairs and sell drinks, so you would walk out of your hotel, walk across the street, rent a chair from one of the guys in the barraca and buy some drinks from them, beer, water, caipirinhas, etc. $150 a night? Try the Arpoador Inn. Or better yet ask Riobound above where to rent an apartment, he can recommend one for you. |
Actually I just took a look myself at the site, even if you don't want to rent an apartment and I have never rented from them but they do look like good ones, these videos are very informative:
