Planning a trip to mexico in feb/2000, if anyone has stayed at the El Derado hotel in Playa del carmen, could you please pass along any info, including beach condition, water activities, food, rooms, etc. Thinking about going All-inclusive, any info would be appreciated.

Mike,

We were at the El Dorado last October. Unfortunately it was during hurricane season and we had to be evacuated early! We did spend two nights there and had a great time. Most of the rooms are located in small villas right off of the beach so that you can walk right out your patio door to the ocean. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. There were 3 restaurants to choose from, and two bars. The days we were there the water wasn't good because of the storm, but in talking with others who have been there before, it is usually great for snorkeling. Hope you have a great time!

Kind of a cheesy looking place. All of the buildings are painted a bright color. Definitely not a classy resort. Lots of buffets. Depends on your style I guess!

Spent New Years there this year and had a blast. Very out of the way with a great beach for kicking back (not body surfing). All rooms have a great view.
