I would like to check prices for airline tickets within Argentina. Expedia and other website don't offer them and when I checked LAN website the tickets to Salta from BA were more than $900 and to Iguazu $300. Who did you use to get tickets to Salta?
|
I hope those prices aren't per person!! Aerolineas prices look better (aerolineas.com), and booking with an Argentine agent should get you a reduction off the internet price, too (some, not a bundle). When you go on the website, click your country of residence, and then you can plug in your itinerary flying from BA. Unfortunately, residents get much lower prices than tourists.
would suggest you contact CollegeMom's TA as a start, and see what she can do. If you are flying down to Argentina on Aerolineas, they may still offer a price reduction on their internal flights. Since you have two weeks, I would also leave enough time in your itinerary to account for travel delays. We were very lucky on our trip in that our flights to and from NW ran like clockwork, but this is not always the case.... |
All flights except original flight to BA were booked through TA mentioned or Silvia at Argentina Tours 4 U in BA(www.argentina2rs4u.com.ar). Both had excellent Spanish/English skills. Interior flights are pricey but hotels, meals, wine etc. are reasonable and the experiences are incredible. TAs used to get better prices on bookings, but that may not be true any longer. There are other TAs highly recommended on this post also, and you have time to research the choices. All fights were Aerolineas (on time). Skatedancer's post that their interior flights are at a better rate if you fly into BA with them was true so check total package flight costs as well as separate flights.

abdm: I tried the LAN website, posing as a US resident and got a quote of 852 PESOS (about 275 dollars), for your travel dates. While this is higher than the price for locals, it is less than 1/3 of what you say. I do NOT believe you will get a better price using a local TA. That was true until a year ago. Did not try Iguazú flights, but I figure the results will be the same, meaning the price you saw was in PESOS.
Have great time in our country. |
The 852 pesos were for flying to Salta, per person, round trip, for USA residents.

avrooster, Is this a price for the tickets to Salta? I got this price for the tickets to Iguazu, but Salta was $900 pp. May be I should try again.
Thank everybody for help with travel agent. Avrooster, I just read your 'Real BA' tour offer. Do you still do this? My husband and I plan to spend 5-6 night in BA and would love to do it with you. Unfortunately, it's just two of us. We leave in New Jersey, USA |
Yes, I clarified in the post above yours that it's the price for Salta, when I realized that my previous post was confusing.
I just tried Iguazú, again for your dates and posing as a USA resident and got a quote of 231 dollars per person, round trip. There were some higher prices, however. If you cannot find these quotes, e-mail me to the address you will find often mentioned in my "The REAL Buenos Aires" thread and we'll find them together. About my tour, I'm usually available for people I relate well with. Please write to me, telling me a little more about yourselves. |
avrooster, the price I saw was in pesos! I did not pay attention, because the first price to Iguazu was displayed in USD. It also looks like I can make same day connection from Iguazu to Salta. But I wonder what happens if the flight from Iquazu id delayed.Lan has only one flight to Salta a day.
|
One thing you might consider doing is fly to Iguazú at about noon on the same day you get here, then stay a few days in BA, then on to Salta and a few days more in BA. How about it?
If you do Iguazú-BA and BA-Salta you'll spend all of that day travelling and in airports. I assume you know that if you fly into Argentina with Aerolíneas you get the local flights at the prices residents get. LAN has a new flight from Miami, but I don't know if they also offer cheaper local flights for the people who take their international flight. |
This is not a bad idea, but isn't Iguazu flights go from a different airport? And I already got international tickets on Continental.
|
Yes, it is from a different airport, that's why I suggest flying at about noon to Iguazú. At what time is Continental supposed to get into Ezeiza?

marking page, Thanks
