Hubby and I took the canopy tour (tours de los veranos)last February (2004)and had a blast! I'm NOT an outdoorsy person, I've never camped out and my idea of roughing it is a less that 4 star hotel! That and the fact that I, too, am afraid of heights. We took the early morning tour, I think it started around 8 or 9am. This was the one to go on:less people earlier in the morning = less people to have to wait for zipping from tree to tree. Also, less bugs. Also, they strap you into some type of 5-point (?) safety harness thingy like the thingy you parasail in so wear jeans or at least longer shorts so you don't get chaifed by the straps. We will probably do it again on our Feb 05 trip. The tour guides were very safety conscious and informative about the mountains and plant life. They worked very hard not only to make sure we had a great tour but that everyone felt safe the whole time. Ages in our group ranged from around 23 up to around 60. The Brochure that I brought home has an age requirement of at least 6 years (I would suggest not younger than 10) and weight up to 250 lbs. Take a camera with you, but make sure it has a strap - it's a long way down if you drop it! Have fun!!

jjb, I am so glad you posted. I am 64 and I have been debating on whether or not I want to do the tour. Everyone but my husband wants to do it. He is wondering if he can just ride along to see the site. I'm guessing he would have to pay the price of the tour even though he can't actually do the canopy. We have decided we will use Los Veranos, but they don't allow bookings until a month to the day. You had great information in your post and I thank you. We had already decided to do the early morning tour as we are up with the roosters. Thanks, Owa
