Need help with Mexico

Need help deciding where in Mexico to go. Two women in their late 20s want to go to Mexico during Christmas vacation. They have not traveled much before so any advice is appreciated.

THey want:
-beautiful surroundings
-nightlight
-stuff to do
-a reasonable price ($150-200)
-no fancy hotel needed...but one that is clean and centrally located

TIA!

Playa del Carmen would be fun...what area are you thinking about?

This is actually for my friend. I have been to Cozumel/Cancun and thought she might like it there. But I wasn't sure if the spring break thing might be too much for them. Playa Del Carman is the same area as Cancun/Cozumel, right?

Oops...They want night life not night light.

You catch the ferry to Cozumel from PDC. So...same general area; about 45 minutes south of Cancun. I think of PDC as having more of a chic-euro vibe rather than the Americanized Cancun.

If they're going at Xmas time, there shouldn't be any spring break going on.

But Xmas is super high season and sells-out early; so they had better start getting serious.

Christmas is the most expensive time to go. The prices could be almost double the usual rate.

Puerto Vallarta or Playa del Carmen fit that list
