Need help on travel ideas!

My husband and I will be visiting Cabo this coming spring. We are looking for a good place to stop and visit for a few days somewhere on our way back home to NY. Not looking to stay in NYC as we live close by and go to the city a lot! We would welcome ideas as we haven't traveled throughout the US that much.

Charleston? Beautiful, history, nice spring weather, romantic?

San Diego is nice, weather should be good. Not sure if you want E. Coast or W.

or even the USA!

Just don't want to go way out of way.. Thought about San Fran but seems way out of the way... Maybe New Orleans or the Keys?

There are so many places in the US to check out;

San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Reno, Lake Tahao, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, San Antonio, Key West, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, New Orleans, Chicago, Hot Springs, AR. Just to name a few.

What exactly are you looking for?

KVR.... We are looking for a 2-3 night stay, not too far off the beaten path home to NY, that still has a warm climate and has a lot of activity around it. Good restaurants, nightlife, and a lot to choose from within walking distance from hotels...

Key West would meet those criteria. We went in 2010. Duval Street is full of resturants and bars. Easy walking. We did several sightseeing tours. Not a good place for a "beachy" vacation though. Beaches not that great. Good sailing though. Most accomendations are B & B. We stayed at the Simonton in a pool side room. Excellant location within walking distance to most everything.

New Orleans would meet that criteria also. We are returning in April for my birthday. Tons of restaurants and bars. Good tours and activities. Get a hotel in the French Quarter and you'll be within walking distance to Bourban Street and the waterfront. Look at the Monteleon Hotel.

Thank you so much KVR... I will look into both places!

Hey if you search concierge services in your city they may help you.

I'd start by checking airline routing. To see what would be convenient.

Seems like Florida would fit. New Orleans. Even San Francisco could work, because once you're in the air, sometimes what seems not "on the way" really could be OK if the flights work.
