We are arriving in Cancun 4 hours before a friend and we will then all drive to Tulum. I am looking for a nice place to enjoy a few margaritas while we wait. Our friend will take a taxi from the airport to meet us and then we will drive to Tulum. Any suggestions?

I don't know of a bar near the airport but in the airport itself there are places to indulge. Besides a bar which Im sure there is they have little carts scattered around the airport selling Caronnas with lime, no problem. They even sell beer in fast food restaurants, my kind of place.

There is a Friday's or a Chili's in the Cancun airport.
Can't remember which one it is...must have had too many margarita's myself!

You could go to Punta Nizuc if you are arriving during daylight, where you can sit and watch the Jungle Tour boats enter the sea. Other than that sit tight at the Aeropuerto!

Oooooops. Keep in mind you can't just get a taxi at the airport. Private transportation OR a van are necessary.
