My Argentina Trip.

Finally! I've been home two weeks and I'm finally getting around to typing this.
Ah, what a fabulous vacation.

SO many people have written such wonderful trip reports, I'll just give some high lights of our trip.

The flight down on Air Canada was very good. We were fed 3 times , which was a pleasant surprise.

We were jsut over an hour late getting to our apartment and the contact had just left, with a note on who to call. A nice gentleman who lived in the building called on his cell phone and soon someone arrived and we were in our apartment in Recoleta. Everything else went very well with BytArgentina.
I would not hesitate to rent from them.

The next morning Isabel at [email protected]
came to visit us and it was the beginning of a wonderful relationship with Isabel. I've never met a more devoted travel agent. She took care of us the whole time, calling often to make sure everything was ok.

Then a friend ( through the women's organization I belong to) arrived and took us all around to different sites. We loved it all.

On Sunday, she took us on the train de Lacosta to Tigre , stopping on the way at San Isidro.
We had a delicious ice cream in San Isidro at Bar la ca Rtuja. ..so good!
The crafts for sale at San Isidro were very nice. I bought a hand painted scarf .. beautiful and a good price.

Then on to Tigre where we caught a boat and sailed out to Gato Blanco, a restaurant with a beautiful patio dining area.
We got a table right by the water and had a delicious meal , while watching all the boats go by.

We had an overnight trip to Iguazu Falls, staying at the Sheraton. It was all so awesome. I truly recommend splurging on the falls view room.

Back in BsAs, we packed alot in.. saw so much. On evening we went to
Opera Pampa and saw a wonderful production showing the history of Argentina with song and dance, and beautiful horses.

One afternoon we went to the Alvear Palace hotel for lunch .. fabulous.. delicious.. a great idea ( thank you cmcfong!!) We chose the buffet lunch, but they also have a French restaurant. The buffet had really fabulous choices.

Did I mention I bought 2 leather jackets?
Although I was not very impressed with the stores on Florida St, we found a small leather shop back in one of the covered arcades off Florida St. It's a small shop called Lexor and they custom made a jacket for me in 2 days.

Off to the North west....next post

Great report so far, Kodi! Welcome home and hope you get lots of wear out of those new jackets. I will bet Trinny and Susannah would approve.

I am so glad you enjoyed the buffet at the Alvear. It was surely one of the best meals I had in Argentina (or anywhere for that matter).

Thank you for a great report, kodi!

I'm glad you had a "fabulous vacation"!

Isn't Isabel great!

Let us hear more!

Will Angie be featured in the next chapter?

Avrooster, stay tuned.. chapter 2 has arrived! And , of course, Angie is featured!

Cmcfong, I have to agree, the meal at Alvears was one of the best I've ever had. We had to be rolled out of there. I'm so glad you recommended it and I also highly recommend it.

Kodi and Carol

It is not me Lee, both of you are very nice, fun, funny, warm and friendly and it is impossible not to like you even before arriving. It was nice having the 2 of you and i wish you both could make it again and this time for a much longer time.

Kodi, if you don't mind sharing, how much was the custom made jacket in US $s?

Thanks a lot.

kodi May 5th, 2008 05:50 PM

Isabel, you are too kind.. You are one of a kind , and you certainly made our trip that much better!

Suzanna, I have to be honest, I don't remember.. but it wasn't alot. It was under $200.
I didn't go into the store looking for a custom made jacket.. But there was a jacket I really liked that didn't fit me properly and I was so surprised when they offered to make we one. I'm very happy with it. The store was Luxor, a small store and they were very good.

Thanks Kodi for the quick reply. We will be there next week, so I am trying to figure out how much cash I need as I know that I might not resist the temptation....

And thanks for the great trip report, we will follow in your footsteps.

Kodi,

Thanks for posting your trip report. I am just starting to think about planning a trip to Argentina (mostly been going to Europe) and your report has definitely piqued my interest! :)

Suzanna, have a great trip! Try to get to Lexor's.. to me, they were better than the other leather stores right on Flodida. They took the time to find me the right jacket, and then made it.

Lowcountry, you must go...it's great.
