There was a death of a man from Calgary at the Riu. He was missing for several hours before he was found on the grounds below the rooms/balconies. Medics said there was evidence of alcohol. His body has been flown home for burial and the family is still waiting on autopsy/toxicology reports. It is a tragedy, but unfortunately, the true nature of his death may never be found out.

The Riu is very safe, with security all over the hotel grounds. Use normal precautions when you're out and about, watch your alcohol intake and best not to walk the beaches after dark. That applies to anywhere you may be.

Jumping out of a balcony while drunk is unsafe? Wow!
