moving to costa rica, need place to rent

I am moving to Costa Rica in Jan. with some friends. We are pointing towards the Tamarindo beach area, however I am having a hard time finding place to live. We want an apartment near the water but we don't want to pay a fortune. If anyone has any ideas please let us know . All help will be greatly appreciated.

Tamarindo is largely touristic and finding a place to rent by the water and moderately priced somewhat is difficult to find especially for long term.

Check the Tico Times online newspaper for some leads. Also try some real estate agents in that area. As noted, Tamarindo is pretty touristy and real estate prices are trending upward; some call this "gringo-ization"! Maybe plan on renting someplace for a week or so and do some travelling around other areas to see whats available. Good luck

Think of going a little farther up the coast...maybe Portrero or Braselito. I think the rentals will be much more inexpensive and you're not that far from other areas to explore. Even Playa Flamingo, which is a great resort area, might be a little cheaper than Tamirindo and there are tons of rentals around Flamingo. Best of luck.

As this post is several months old, I'm assuming you've found a place and have relocated to CR .... but for any others who may be interested in same topic, I happened across this website - http://www.discoverypress.com/wwwboard/wwwboard.html
