Moving to Costa Rica (central valley questions)

Hello,

I'm working on relocating our family to Costa Rica for a few years and had a few questions about neighboring cities/towns that would be ideal for our situation.

Here are our non-negotiables.

- maximum 1h 30m from SJO airport
- international school (max 30 min from home) - highly rated/reviewed for our 2 children (under 5 years old)
- upperclass neighborhood with security
- sense of community among other expats and other migrants.
- safety conscious city/town/neighborhood
- not too remote - we enjoy community and connecting with people
- cooler climate (compared to other areas in Costa Rica)

Does anyone have any specific neighborhoods that you'd recommend considering these requirements? Any advise or input would be much appreciated.

If you have any clarifying questions, please let me know.

Thank you,

SH

I hear a lot of good things about Escazu if you want to explore that one. I don't have any first hand experience.

Escazu and Santa Ana, the first and second suburbs respectively heading west from San Jose, have become the Central Valley's Expat Central and prestige addresses. I should add, they have become the Central Valley's Expat Central ... with all the development, traffic, and skyrocketing real estate prices to match.
