Mosquito Net Needed?

I will be in Belize in January and am staying at Chan Chich near Gallon Jug, and also at Turtle Inn in Placencia. Is there any need for a mosquito net for the rooms? If so, what kind do I get? I am not sure if either room has a place to hang it from. Your thoughts?

Thanks,
Joni

Hi Joni,

I was in Placencia two years ago in Feb. We did not need a mosquito net. I do believe we wore mosquito repellant in the evenings, but I don't remember them being a problem. If you are concerned, try to get one with a very fine mesh, not sure where you are from, but they are probably easier to find at home, and travel lightly. I have seen nets that stand on their own and cover you and a cot. If you have problems, there used to be a pharmacy in Placencia where you can find benadryl and anti-itch cream.
Have fun!

You're staying at 2 of the highest-end places in Belize - if bugs are a problem in the area the rooms should be well-screened. Even staying in budget places we didn't need nets. Have a wonderful trip and please tell us all about it when you get back! Happy trails!

You're likely paying $400+ a night at these places, which are both wonderful, and you don't have to worry about bugs in your room. The only time you might have a mosquito problem is at Turtle Inn when the prevailing sea breezes go calm, but that's not an issue in January.
