Montezuma lodging help
We were thinking of staying 2 nights in Montezuma but all the places we see require a three night stay... any recomendations? Or, do we ditch that area and go to a different beach area? Help please!!!

gwo, if you had to pick between the two of them, which one would you choose? How far apart are they?
|
It's a bit out of the way to get to Montezuma for just 2 nights anyway...can you swing another night there? I haven't stayed at Ylang Ylang yet, but will be in June. Not sure if they require 3 nights.

Two days is all we have so we are going to have to make it work unless someone has another beach suggestion that works better.

raptortrainer, what would work better depends on the rest of your itinerary which I'm sure you have posted on another thread. BUT, hipvirgochick is right on when she says it isn't an easy beach destination for just 2 nights. It's rather like the road to Monteverde. It takes so much time and effort to get there, less than 3 nights is hardly worth it.
I'd suggest Nosara, Samara, Brasilito, Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero, Playa Grande--any of these will save you road/ferry hours and maximize your beach time. Perhaps it depends on how much you look forward to your beach time. I look for ways to extend it whenever possible, but the time factor may not be that important to you. So, like all travel planning, it's all relative to one's preferences. |
Thanks shillmac... I'm not so interested in a lot of beach time, I am more of a forest/wildlife girl anyway, but definately want to end my last 2 days at the beach. You led right into my next question...which is The more I read about Montezuma, the more I am turned off... it sounds like a dump; dirty, lots of reports of being robbed, and I have not seen any lodging without horrid reviews and stories except the super expensive ones. Is this the place we should be going? Is there another beach we should be going to spend our last 2 days in CR? There are three of us and one is really taken by Montezuma...says it looks like a fun little place. Is there any others that compare to it?

Oh, forgot to say... the rest of the trip is Arenal and Monteverde (3 days at each) and we already have reservations for lodging there, so we aren't changing that at this point.
I really want to see the turtles at Playa Grande, but I think it is too late in the season for that |
