Monteverde Lodging???
Heyyyy...where do ya'll suggest a single 55 year old female traveling alone in CR should stay in Monteverde???
Thanks, Leigh |
Our only experience was with El Sapo Dorado--we loved it there!

Just about anywhere!
I have stayed alone up there at a couple of pensions. I have stayed at the Heliconia alone. Depends on how close to town you want to be. There are places that are pretty far out so you would need a taxi to go just about anywhere. You could walk around town from the Heliconia (a little bit of a hike but very doable). The butterfly garden is very near them. The Arco Iris is a favorite place near town. El Sapo Dorado of course. If you don't mind being out of town you could look into the Fonda Vela. It is a lovely place. |
Thanks Guys...
I was checking out the Trapp and Monteverde Lodges as a possibility. Will go look now at those 3 places you mentioned. How do I get back from Monteverde to San Jose near SJO without flying a commuter??? Leigh |
Arranging a transfer with Interbus would be a good option for you. Safe and reliable, small turismo vans. ..

It is very easy to take the public bus back to SJ as well. I have done that with no problem. I actually got off at the airport to meet my husband who was flying in rather than go all the way into the city.

If I take the Interbus or public bus from Monteverde back to a hotel near the SJO airport will those buses be able to store my luggage?? I'm going to be in CR for 13 days.
|
Most hotels generally have some sort of storage for people who are coming and going to different points in the country. We have left stuff for overnight rafting trips and extended 10 day trips to the Osa. This is assuming you will stay in the hotel for a night coming and going. There is a storage place near the airport if your aren't. We used to leave stuff all the time because many flights require a lighter load. The buses do not have storage. If traveling on a public bus do not ever put anything in the overhead area. Hang onto all important papers.
