Monteverdeinfo.com as a pretty good listing of the hotels and has a map so you can see where they are located. There are pictures and links as well as prices for all. Not as good as personal references but will let you narrow your inquiries down to more specific hotels.
I personally have stayed at Pension Santa Elena, Pension Manakin, Monteverde Lodge, and the Heliconia twice if you have questions on those. |
As always, very good suggestions from Jessie. I just want to add some other suggested hotels:
Hotel Fonda Vela in Monteverde, quiet expensive but worthy. Close to the Monteverde Biological Reserve. Try their restaurant is great!) Sapo Dorado, El Establo |
In August, we stayed at Hotel Claro de Luna. Lovely but small room. Great breakfasts. Moderately priced and friendly people.

In late August we stayed at Arco Iris for two nights. We are a family of four and it was $70 per night for two bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, bathroom and terrace with bench. Though in Santa Elena, the cabins are set back in a forest-like environment and are very quiet. This is not an upscale place, but it is clean, economical and convenient. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful. It is only five kilometers to the cloud forest. What we liked best about being right in town was being able to walk to restaurants for dinner, to the market, bakery, etc.
