Mexico in the Summer
We're thinking about going to Mexico this summer, but would love to hear people's experiences w/ weather. Ideally we'd like to go to Puerto Vallarta, but realize it may be very humid/muggy, so we're cotemplating the Los Cabos area. We're going to be w/ a 9/10 month old baby and want to avoid serious humidity or hurricane risks. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Hurricane is highly unlikely in the PV area, no worries there.
But it will be hot & humid, some rain, progressively hotter as summer goes on. I was there June last year and it was OK, but hotter compared to my usual winter month trips. Upside, less tourists & town was more 'local' in feel. Don't know anything about Cabo to compare options, sorry. |
Cabo gets hit by hurricanes quite often.

Go to Cabo in June and you'll miss the humidity and be too early for the hurricane season.
August is typically hot and humid, with maybe a 1 in 4 chance of a hurricane any given week (some years are worse than others). Early July is similar to June, late July more like August. Seems a lot more humid and muggy in Vallarta than Cabo. Vallarta is protected somewhat from hurricanes because it's in a large bay but they still get affected by the storm bands, regardless of what people here claim. But they are protected from the highest winds. Bill |
The costal areas are really hot and humid.
Suggest the "colonial" mountains. M |
Thanks so much for all of your comments!
