Mexico in October

Hi,
My husband and I are planning a beach vacation in late October. We want to go somehwere we can relax on a beach, but also somewhere that has things to see and do besides the beach (I can only get my husband to lay out for so long). Thanks!

Oct is still hurricane season and considered off-season so you can book at the last minute, meaning you can check if there are any storms approaching before booking.

On the Pacific side Puerto Vallarta would be a good bet.

Puerto Vallarta had a hurricane a few yrs ago in Oct category 5 first time in 65yrs. The only place I would go in Oct would be Aruba they do not ever have hurricanes, I learned my lesson had to cancel twice our Mexican vacations because I thought it was safe. I especially would not go to the Cancun area always have hurricanes in Oct pretty bad ones too. I would advise go in November the season is over or go to Aruba. Good Luck

Hi,

Have you considered Los Cabos? It has 360 days of sunshine and an average temp of 78 degrees. There are great little day trips out from the area to artist's colonies, golf, spas, fishing. The beaches are white sand and great for walking. You can rent a car and drive easily around the area.

Best Regards,
Julia

October is so Iffy. I went through not one but two hurricanes one year. My Hair stylist's wedding was canceled because of that last one at Cancun. If you can wait till late November your odds are much better. Choose either PV or Zihuatanejo both great destinations with lots of Non-Beach activities, PV is much busier of the two although almost Peaceful compared to a bit later. Cabo is like going to San Diego South with every US fast food imaginable, prices in dollars & little of real Mexico plus super expensive.

We loved Playa del Carmen. Many things in walking distance and you can take the ferry over to Cozumel for a different feel. There are so many tours you can take or rent a car and drive on your own. I really loved the town and can't wait to return. It's only about 45 min south of Cancun airport

Hurricane Wilma hit Cancun in October, so I'd definitely buy travel insurance for that time. But it's a good time of year to get some deals!
