Mexico for 3 weeks

I'm going to Mexico for 3 weeks in September. I'm planning on flying into Mexico city but I'm not sure where to fly out of. I'm thinking of fying out of Cancun. Is this wise to just travel around the south of the country? Basically where is the best part of Mexico to travel?

Cheers!

Go to the Yucatan and not just Cancun. Playa, Tulum, Merida are all great places. Mayan ruins, great beache, good food and wonderful people

Why don't you use Mexico City as the Center of your travels and depart from there too. You have enough time to do a lot. You can can go to the San Miguel Gunajuato area heading north, you can go to Cuernavaca/Taxco area heading west you can go to the Puebla/Oaxaca area heading south. This is all easily doable by bus. With three weeks, in addition to seeing Oaxaca City you might want to head down to the beach in Oaxaca State. This can be done in a n 8 hours bus ride or a 45 minute flight from Oaxaca City.
