Mexico destination wedding
 

Looking through some of the other posts I see most look in to Rivera Mya or Cancun. What is everyone's take on Cabo. I'd be flying from Pennsylvania, may be too far of a flight for everyone. It looks very nice though. I want a nice beach, diving/snorkeling, preferrably an option for all inclusive for my guests. Looking to have guests spend about $1500 per couple if possible. Any suggestions?

Just my opinion, but I don't feel that the Cabo area is worth the long flight. The terrain is very dry and arid, not too scenic, and the ocean is generally too rough for swimming.
Cabo San Lucas itself is a really seedy town, no beauty there. San Jose Del Cabo has more charm, but it doesnt compare to other towns in Mexico. Some of the high end resorts are very beautiful (Esperanza or Palmilla), but also very expensive, even more so than, say the Ritz in Cancun, where you have a much more scenic and swimmable ocean in your front yard, and there's more to do.

I'm not a fan of the Baja (dry arid desert).

I'd suggest Cancun or the coastline area south from there for the Caribbean side.

Or if you don't mind a longer flight, look at Puerto Vallarta (lush green jungles mountains). It's a popular wedding destination.

Suze has a a good suggestion. Puerto Vallarta would be a slightly shorter flight, and is a much nicer destination.

We saw a couple weddings when we stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar in the Riviera Maya. We also live in PA and it's not a bad flight from there at all.

I like the desert & I like Los Cabos.

thank you all for your responses. I'm just in the brainstorming stages but it's good to know what others think if they've been to these places before.

You might also want to see about wedding planners in the various locations, to help with the legal requirements of getting married in Mexico, besides the ceremony and reception.

We were just in Playa del Carmen in Feb.We walked to Las Palapas for breakfast one morning. It is a large, open air, palapa and is really beautiful. The food was great. The guests there stay in individual cottages that looked clean and well maintained although we did not see inside. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is really the nicest beach in Playa del Carmen; white sand with turqoise water and not crowded. I thought when we were there that it would be a beautiful place for a wedding. I don't think it is extremely expensive either nor is Playa del Carmen in general. I don't know if they accommodate weddings but I think it would be a great spot if they do.

If most people are flying from the East Coast, I would definitely go for something in the Can Cun / Playa del Carmen area. There are a lot of inexpensive flights out of NYC to Can Cun.

There are a lot of all-inclusives that could perfectly meet your needs in that area, too.

We just stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach/Del Mar and it was the worst vacation of our lives. The food and drinks were terrible, the resort staff was non-responsive, and 27 of the 30 guests in our party fell ill at some point during the week for 2-3 days each. That is 90% of the guests in our party and includes 3 of the 4 members of my immediate family.

I know you want beaches, but one of the most popular MX wedding sites is my home town.
Nearly everyone recommends you have your "legal"/civil service "at home" and the religious/ceremonial service here to avoid serious (and often expensive) governmental/logistical hurdles.
