Mexico city tour.
 
We are a family of five, I initially had booked a half day city tour, but when the travel documents arrived today they hadn't booked it. So now I am wondering whether I need it or not, is it something we could do ourselves without drama ? I know there is a hop on hop off tourist bus that does the rounds...anyone used it ? We are staying at the Gran Melia, should we use someone recommended by the hotel. If we do it ourselves can anyone recommend an itinerary, just a casual threequarters of a day ?

I am sure your hotel will be able to set you up with a driver no problem.

The 'Turibus' is quite good. However:

At the cose of $11/person, you might do better with a private car or van and driver. The problem is getting someone who is knowledgeable and speaks English.

They give a pamphlet, but not much direction.

As for the itinerary, consider duplicating the 'Turibus' route or check out:
