Mexico City & Seniore Citizen Request

Hi All You Good People,

I've checked many posts on this suject but came up rather short on information. My wife and I are 72 years old flying into Mexico City.

From the airport on a Sunday evening in February, I'd like to make it as hassle free as possible getting to our hotel. Can anyone suggest a recognized private transportation service (I am aware of the Sitio taxi service but I'd like to cover all bases) that will meet us near the baggage area to get us to the hotel?

Thanks for the help.

Taxi service from the airport is really fine to use. You just need to buy the ticket at the glassed-in booth right outside the baggage area and then proceed out to the official taxi area. The driver takes your ticket for the fare.

If you are uncomfortable with this, you could try having your hotel arrange an airport pick-up. We have sometimes done this when we were going straight to Cuernavaca rather than stopping in Mexico City, and I'm sure the higher-end city hotels would provide this service, but really, the taxis are fine.

Are you visiting Mexico City or laying over? If its just a layover, the easiest would be to stay at the Camino Real which is connected to the airport. Otherwise, watch your belongings carefully as you go through the airport and take an authorized taxi, one that says transportacion terrestre, which you buy a ticket for to your hotel.

I think the point was that they wanted help with their luggage as well.

Sky caps Galore at the Mexico City airport. They will escort you to the taxi stand & "Brush Off" the hustlers who will try to get you to go with them. You buy at ticket, & the skycap will load your luggage into the cab & off you go! Tip them 10 pesos a bag minimum.

Thanks for all the responses. After reading a bit more, I've gone and purchased some pesos and we will be using the taxi that all have suggested. the luggage problem has been solved by taking only one large piece. My wife agreed.

Again, thanks for all the replies
