Mexico City 48 hours - Know a guide

We have 10 to 14 people coming to Mexico City after a week at the beach; all adults. Would like advice on the following:

1. A private guide - Thinking of hiring a private guide and van(s) to improve our efficiency during our short stay. Have you hired a guide, or have a recommendation?
2. Food tour - any that you love, or know of?
3. Cooking class - have you done, or know of?
4. Any can't miss site seeing?
5. Is a guide necessary or do we just start walking around?
6. What should I be asking that I am not?

Thank you for any help that you can offer.

"What should I be asking that I am not?" Whether just 48 hours is enough time to experience very much of what Mexico City offers, either with help from a guide or without one.

It's possible that not all of your 10 to 14 adults will want to use their very limited time there to do exactly the same things. Will they all, for example, want to take a cooking class? You know them all, but posters here do not have that perspective.

Before hiring a guide, consider deciding first which places/activities you definitely want to experience in Mexico City. More extremely interesting places are there than you will be able to comfortably fit into a 48 hour itinerary. In other words, you'll need to make some choices. There is not a single "best way" to spend two days in Mexico City.

Your reply

Thank you for taking the time to reply, and help ponder the philosophy of our decisions. All we have is 48 hours mostly, though we do have some time the day we arrive and the morning of our departure but full days are two. We all have other commitments to tend too in life. We are all family, we have all traveled to many other locations. We have all hired private guides before. We have all taken food tours, and cooking classes. I am sure we will not be glued together the entire time, but the questions I asked reflect my tasks to help get the trip started. If you are able to help with the first 5 questions of my message that would be awesome. Have a good weekend.

Templo Mayor
National Palace
Anthropology Museum
Chapultepec Park
Bellas Artes
Frida Kahlo Museum (The Blue House)
Assorted markets . . . you're well over 48 hours already.

Can't help with the other stuff.
