Mexico

We go with a group to Mexico nearly every year and like to try different spots. we are in our 60s . We enjoy relaxing, snorkeling if available, etc. We have been to Puerto Vallarata (like very much), Play del Carmen (like very much), Tullum(like very much) Ixtapa (like), Cozumel (like),' Acapulco (never would return), Matzalan (okay), Cancun( not again). we do not like all inclusive. some of them went to Rincon, north of PV and liked that. we would consider that again . What are some suggestions, any other areas north of PV?
Thanks,

Must it be a beach destination? (You do mention snorkeling.) Oaxaca and San Miguel de Allende are charming inland places.

What about Huatalco? It sounds like that may fit your bill, although you do not directly say exactly what you like or dislike-- you only give I pus thumbs up or down on previous destinations.

North of PV: Bucerias, Punta Mita, Ricon de Guayabitos, San Pancho, Sayulita, San Blas.

South Barre de Navidad & Melanque?

Or what about La Paz, San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas on the Baja?

I forgot, they had also been to Huatalco. We go in February usually and the group does not seem too interested inCa o.
Suze, tell me more about the places you mentioned that are north of PV

tidy, Sorry I can't help. I go to Puerto Vallarta real often but I only stay right in town. I just know those are the names of the smaller towns that are up north around that side of the Bay of Banderas, and then around the tip out on the Pacific ocean side.

I wonder if anyone's actually been to Cabo? I didn't think I was "interested" either until I went... one trip to La Paz and another time to Cabo. The Baja's a pretty interesting place.

Have you been to Isla Mujeres or Holbox? Holbox is very laid back and pretty.

Must it be Mexico? We rented a house on the beach in Roatan on year and it was lovely.

For years, Baja was on my "not interested at all" list. Then I went and I became a real fan. My favorite place in the southern Baja peninsula is Todos Santos, about an hour up the Pacific coast from Cabo San Lucas. It's known for its large arts community and is a popular day trip from Los Cabos. But Todos Santos has such a growing selection of hotels and restaurants that I think it's a great base in its own right.

Never been to isle Mujeres or Holbrook. We have thought of Mujeres but never heard of Holbox.

Jeff, I have heard San Miguel de Allende is very nice but I think the group will want the ocean.

TC, it would not have to be Mexico . We have done Costa Rica but we see to go back to Mexico because of convenience and usually pretty good weather.

TC, I would love to go to Roatan but I thought April was a better time to go. I heard the weather in February was not as good. Can you confirm

TC Aug 18th, 2014 07:26 PM

We were there in February and the weather was stellar.

Apart from Rincon de Guayabitos, there's San Pancho, Lo de Marcos and Chacala, up that way.
