Mexicana or Alaska Airlines?
Flying from L.A. to Cancun. Which would be the better airline to pick?
|
I can tell you that Mexicana is a very good airline. Usually there's no surprises, planes usually leave on time, food and drinks on board, and you get miles on Star Alliance (United).
I had no idea that Alaska flew this route... |
I've never flown Mexicana, but we loved Alaska when we flew it to Puerto Vallarta...I'd choose the better deal!!!
|
Have never flown Mexicana, but have used Alaska to fly from LA to Los Cabos twice in last 6 months, and will be using them again when I return there next month and think it's a great airline. But, as Frankie suggests, choose the better deal.

I only have personal experience with Mexicana. Usually on time, food is a little better, in my mind, than U.S. airlines, free beer, a good airline.

We've had nothing but trouble with Mexicana on several trips to Mexico. Cancelled flights, overbooked flights, rude flight attendants and no compensation! Would definitely go with Alaska Air.
|
Mexicana is no longer in Star Alliance.
I would highly recommend them though. |
My vote goes to Mexicana! Good food , good service--very good airline!
|
I have flown both Alaska and Mexicana. They are both very good though I prefer Mexicana. I am fluent in Spanish which probably leans me toward Mexicana. In any event I would choose whichever has the best schedule and price.

I have done Seattle/PVR a bunch of times on Alaska with only good experiences. They added Cancun to their routes awhile back. I had 1 great flight on Mexicana, but they don't fly out of Seattle now so no recent experience to share. Go with whoever has the best price & be sure you have a nonstop flight.
