Merida-where to stay

We are planning a trip to Merida in late October this year. Has anyone stayed in the old colonial homes that are for rent? They seem to have very good reviews. We are looking at a 2 bedroom/2 bath and would be able to split the cost with another family. We also want to be within walking distance of the plazas as we will not be renting a car in Merida.

What colonial homes and where exactly are they? If you want to be in walking distance to the Centro Historico tell us where the houses are and we can help with explaining the locations. I am pretty good with Merida locale and so are some others here. I have not seen colonial homes for rent in the main part of the Main Centro Historico, but I have seen some in the Paseo de Montejo area, about 20 min. walk from the main zocalo and main parks where the cultural events take place during week nights.

thanks for your response. Figuring out where places are has been difficult. We have seen 3 places that seem interesting from various rental sites. They are Casa Granada; it says it's in El Centro on Calle 62. Another rwo are named Casa del Pandero and Casa Pocito. They both say they are in the main area, but you never know. We were hoping to stay in a rental home as two of us will be doing a lot of photography and the other two will want to spend, at least some time, relaxing around a pool.

"Figuring out where places are has been difficult."

Not a good sign, IMO! I could be wrong....

I don't believe these interests would necessarily limit you to rental homes. Have you checked booking.com for lodging with a pool?

There is a poster on fodors whom I have done a vacation home swap with. My place in Playa del Carmen for her cottage on Cape Cod. She has a small Facebook group of vacation home swappers, the people on it must know someone in the group to get in. One Merida-based person on there is well-known to the fodors lady I swapped places with, as she has stayed in the Merida inn person owns.

About a yr ago the Merida lady joined this online group and posted her two houses in Centro Historico that she rents, wanting to do a swap. Both have pools. Do u want me to get u the info? I had checked them out last yr thinking I'd do a swap with her, one of her Merida homes for my condo in Playa, but it didn't work out. The places looked nice and definitely in Centro Historico.

Let me know.

don't know if I replied. I would be interested in your friend's home swap.
