Mendoza or Bariloche?

We are going to Argentina for 10 days (arriving in the AM of day 1, departing in the evening of day 10). We are staying in Buenos Aires for the first 4-5 days. I've been reading all the posts and I want to see everything but have narrowed down our choices for the second part of our trip to Mendoza and/or Bariloche. My tendency is to try to do both by flying to Mendoza, taking the bus to Bariloche, and then flying back to BA. Way too crazy in 5-6 days? If we have to pick, what factors would cause you to recommend one over the other? We want somewhere with nice scenery, where we can rent a car and drive around for a day or two. We like visiting vineyards but would probably just do that one day. We can't do a lot of super active things as I'll be in my second trimester. Thanks!

It comes to a point that only you can choose. At least I see it like this, the bus between Bariloche and Mendoza etc. seems a little too much. Distances are very big, and since you only have ten days....
Mendoza or Bariloche either place can give you want you wish but unless you are extremely interest in wine, and choose for instance a place like Cavas Wine Lodge it seems to me that Bariloche with its absolutely beautiful scenery, mountains, lakes and several other nearby locations like Villa la Angostura, all kind of catamaran trips to different destinations etc. seems to be more interesting. Buenos Aires + Bariloche it should be enouth. Enjoy both places staying a few days in each .

If I never see another winery/vineyard again, it will be too soon, so I would go with Iguazu or Bariloche.
That said, next trip we'll stay in BsAs and Santiago and leave the "country" to others who are willing to pay the steep air fares.

PS - love wine, esp from AR and CL.

Hello nitajan:

Well, both places and Iguazu are great to visit but let me add a few highlights.

Mendoza:

Lots of trees, good food and wine all over the place. Stay away from Baco Tours. Very poor if not dishonest.

Bariloche:

Mountain ski area where European champions go to practice. Very scenic. Chocolate all over the place. Good stuff. A very noisy place when school lets out. Full of wild teen agers when they are let free.

Iguazu:

Fantastic falls. Best seen from both sides and the river as well. Jungle birds can be seen wild and in an avery. Certainly worth a visit.

Hope this adds to the confusion. Best to see it all.

Have a good one.

Thanks for the input and tips. I think we are leaning towards Bariloche at the moment, but no tickets yet (seeing if they'll come down) so it can still change!
