Mazatlan

Would like to spend the month of Jan 2025 in Mazatlan. Chose it over Puerto Vallarta because I have been told it is not quite as hot in Mazatlan. Have not been to either. I am looking at Zona Dorato area. If anyone can give me any info on that I would appreciate it. I think it is just south of Marina Mazatlan.
Thank You

Can't comment on Mazatlan but I believe the temperature difference with PV is negligible.

According to weatherbase.com, average high in January in Mazatlan is 80º, morning/evening humidity 89/62. Puerto Vallarta is 83.8º, morning/evening humidity 90/67.

My heat pump guy tells me humans can tell a difference of 2º so 4º would in theory be noticeable.

Agree with tom. I am a PV regular visitor (30+ trips to date) though I usually go later in the year. January isn't terribly hot there then. both PV and Mazatlan come in around 74 to 84 F that time of year. I would not make your city choice based only on that. Not saying there's anything wrong with Mazatlan but I know a lot of people who prefer Puerto Vallarta.

Interesting, I appreciate the info. Thank you for the feedback.

I've enjoyed both of my day visits to Mazatlan. Is should be more affordable than Puerto Vallarta for the same class, or better, of hotel. It is popular with Canadian snowbirds. In addition to the modern Zona Dorada, be sure to visit the historic centro.

Mazatlan gets less rain or overcast in January and is less humid. I find Puerto Vallarta uncomfortably humid in the afternoons, even in winter. And unbearable at other times of the year.

Sorry but I love this song...I'm guessing very few here remember it. It's been many years since I've been in Mazatlan!

What would you call it..mix of Nortena and Ranchera? Reminds me a bit of Daniel Santos' ode to Borinquen.....sorry, I am a flat out fan of these old Latin songs...they can make me cry.

Thankyou everyone for your input. I do appreciate it and after this and further research on line I think we will try Mazatlan.

One more choice

You could always make your own comparison, by going to both. Spend some time in Mazatlan, then fly or bus onward to Puerto Vallarta, for the ultimate vacation. Flights within Mexico are very reasonably priced for short hops, using Mexican airlines.
