It seems to me that, as is often the case with old hotels, you need to be lucky enough to get a recentrly renovated room, or.... |
my wife and I stayed there in 2001. We were very pleased with it then--of course it is now 7 years later. The location is very good and we were treated very well there. During our stay, my wife had a fall and needed some medical attention and the hotel was very responsive, getting her a doctor and following up. No complaints

thanks for those comments....i had already read the trip advisor info---i much prefer the fodors comments as i often feel trip advisor posters have some axe to grind and are less reliable...

In the following thread, you will find the great drdawggy's opinion on the Plaza, where he stayed recently: Too many choices - I give up - help!! |
We stayed in May of 2007, and enjoyed it. Great location, and our room was lovely I thought.

We've stayed there on both our trips, last time our TA had us upgraded to a suite, very nice. Great location, friendly service and if you like historical hotels, it's very interesting. Plus, there's a great bar/lounge in the hotel that we've very much enjoyed!
The only complaint (which isn't really a complaint), is that a lot of tour groups use the hotel, so you do tend to get those "tour group people" staying there too (but they don't bother me :). |
