March weather in Belize

We'll be in San Pedro, San Ignacio, and Maskall Village area in early March. Can anyone tell me what kind of temperatures to expect during daytime and evening - especially for the latter 2 places? Also, any update on the Macal River canoe attack issues? Thanks - Claire

Weather generally will be like South Florida at that time. A little hotter probably in San Ignacio and at Maruba. San Pedro will be the most pleasant since there will be a breeze off the water.

No further developments that I know of, but no more attacks, either. Trips close to San Ignacio have been discontinued by most operators -- they all happened in the same area.

Lan - Thanks for the info - glad I asked because I was assuming the opposite weather-wise! I assume the day trek to Tikal will also be hot and humid? Claire

It will be very hot inland. We got married at Maruba last February and it was hot & humid. San Pedro will be hot, but not too hot because it's on the water.

My husband I just returned from a two week trip to Belize. We stayed inland at Chaa Creek and Blancaneaux and found that it got kind of cold at night. We felt that it was warmer in Placencia. It was probably just a fluke, but I would recommend bringing something with long sleeves for the evening in case it gets cold. Also, bring LOTS of sunscreen since the sun is really strong during the day. While you are in San Ignacio, I highly recommend eating a meal at Sanny's restaurant - great local food! I also recommend the ATM tour if you are looking for an adventure. Have a great trip!!

Tsepe: I would love to hear about your trip. We (wife and 2 kids) are headed to Belize in June and have booked 3 nts at Chaa Creek (the rest our trip on Ambergris Caye). If you don't mind sharing, I'd like to hear about Chaa Creek (likes / dislikes) and any day trips / excursions you took from there. We were originally planning on canoeing down to San Ignacio but will probably look for other activity based on recent canoe jackings. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks for these replies. Tsepe - what activities did you do at Chaa besides the ATM trip? Was the ATM tour one of their activities? We're considering doing their Tikal day trip, though the price is steep. We, too, would love to hear a trip report from you! Claire
