Manzanillo, Mexico
My In-Laws are considering renting a villa in Manzanillo for a family vacation. I don't know much about that area, and there is hardly any info on this site. Does anyone know what it's like there?
I was thinking there would be more activities and things to do for everybody in the areas of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa. What do you think? |
I am a little confused here.
Are you talking about the beach inthe Ixtapa/Zhuatanejo area or are you asking about the resort city of Manzanillo. I am assuming it is the one near Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. Well this beach is between Playa LArga and the Bay of Zihuatanejo. It is a rather nice unspoiled beach area. Playa Larga stretches onto Playa Blanco and La Barra De Potosi. There is a paved road to take you to Playa Larga,it is just a few miles south of Zihautanejo. Remember that Manzanillo is south of Zihuatanejo on the Bahia de Potosi. I mention this because there is another Manzanillo Beach area in Troncones which is just North of Zihuatanejo. Also there are many beaches called Manzanillo in Mexico and three in Costa Rica. They are named after the Manzanillo Tree. I was there( for a full day) it is no problem getting there from Zihuatanejo airport. Percy |
I am referring to the city of Manzanillo, just south of Barra De Navidad. Do you know anything about that area? Would there be enough things to do for all ages? We have 8 adults from 45-70 years old...two of which love to shop, and 3 girls ages 6, 9 and 14. I just thought that the Zihua/Ixtapa area would have more activities for out group, but my Father-in-law is leaning towards Manzanillo.
So , does anyone know about the city of Manzanillo and activities in the area? |
Check this website out for a neat village north of the Manzanillo airport: www.lamanzanilla.biz, with lots of outdoor things to do!
adios! |

Yes I have been to Manzanillo and I stayed at the Las Hadas. I took tours to Colima nd Comala as well as the city tour and I also took a tour to Barra de Navidad...here is the most beautiful golf course I have ever seen and the town of Barra de Navidad is nice to walk around and shop. The church is always open and you can walk in and see a statue of Christ hanging there with his arms broken...this is from the Earthquake they had there some 30 years ago. There is enough to keep every one occupied ,it is a matter of what you chose to do. Some beach time, some shopping ,some touring. I liked Manzanillo, but thenI have liked everyplace in Mexico. Have fun Percy |
Thanks Percy and Professor for the replies. I feel much better about this trip now!

Professor, I checked out the web site...I'm confused. It seems La Manzanilla is not the same as Manzanillo, the city!
