Manuel Antonio to Tobocan
 

Looking to spend a honeymoon in CR - Fly into San Jose and would like to spend about 5 days in Manuel Antonio and the last 2 days relaxing in hot springs at Tobocan...HOW DO WE GET FROM MAN ANT TO TOBOCAN???

Also, can anyone recommend good hotels in Man Ant?

Tabacon Hot Springs are located near the Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna. If you are planning on spending two days at the hot springs, you may want to look at staying at Tabacon Lodge. Staying at the lodge gives you free access to the hot springs. I should probably mention that some people have not been impressed with the rooms at the lodge. I can't say since we stayed at another resort and went to the springs in the evening. I'm not sure how long it takes to drive from MA to the Arenal area, at least four hours if not more. You can hire a private driver to take you there or if you are renting a car, you can drive there on your own. I think the roads are pretty good from MA to Arenal.

As far as a hotel in MA, we stayed at Costa Verde I and were very happy with our room and the resort. If you are looking for luxury, you may want to look at other options, the room had a beautiful view.

Would probably stay in the resort at Tobocan...Do you know how much it costs to use the springs?

I guess we'll probably rent an SUV and drive from SJ to MA to Arenal then back to SJ.

The drive is very close to 6 hours. Yes, the roads are decent between the 2 places. Staying at Tabacon Resort guarantees free use of Tabacon Hot Springs. The hot springs part is beautiful. Enjoy! And congratulations!

To get the great view from your room at Costa Verde pay the bucks and book the studio plus. The studios are on the backside of the units. We learned the hard way. To make matters worse we were on the ground floor so our room was open to the foot traffic as people went to their rooms or maids did their work. No sense of privacy with the large window wall facing the walkway.

Hi, Sarah, I would second the recommendation about the Studio Plus at Costa Verde. That is what we stayed in. I think we were in Section B, Unit 11 or 12. Costa Verde also has a seperate resort area for adults only - Costa Verde II - however I understand that those units do not have A/C. Also some of their other sections are located farther away from the main restaurant and office, so if you do decide to stay there, you may want to inquire about location of your room.

The park and beach are located down the hill from the hotel, which is true of most of the hotels in the MA area. This is why you have the beautiful views from the hotel. It was hard for me to picture this before I was there. I will just say that it is possible to walk to the beach, but it may not be the safest way to get there, and the walk back up the hill can be tiring and hot. Taxi rides are only about $3 and there is a public bus that goes by the hotel property and it will take you directly to the beach.
