Manuel Antonio- budget hotel close to Costa Verde II

Hi,
DH and I are all set for our trip to CR in mid-Feb, but seeing our enthusiasm growing by the day, now a friend of ours may want to join us. But he can't afford Costa Verde II in Manuel Antonio where we'll be staying for 3 nights. Wondering if anyone can recommend a budget inn/hotel that's not too far from Costa Verde II where our friend can stay & still be able to do daily activities (trip to MA park, mangrove tour etc.) and have dinners etc. together.
Something below $75-$85 should work. Many thanks!

La Posada Jungle Bungalows or Villas Nicolas might have something that cheap; it would be easier if you were going during green season when the rates drop.

These places aren't super close, but nothing's really too far from anything else in MA, but your friend should check out Hotel Vela Bar, Villa Prats, and Hotel del Mar -- all within that price range. If you're googling these you might want to add "Manuel Antonio" (there are several Hotel del Mars in the world, for example). Hotel Mandarina might also be worth looking into.

You could always give Didi's bed and breakfast a try. We stayed there two years ago and really enjoyed our stay. It's a small place only four rooms and the owner is very helpful.

The 2 closest I can remember are Karahe and ...sorry can't remember the other one that is just downhill. last I was there it was painted a horrid shade of orange.

Btw, there are cheaper options at Costa Verde, have you looked into those. They have studios without the view that are cheaper.

Oh there's also Hotel Arbodela and Villas de la Selva (which I think used to be the awful orange bldg, lol). They are both pretty cheap.

The efficiency units at Costa Verde may fit your price range.

Thank you all. After all that, our friend decided not to come along... bad economy, job market & so on.
