Mango Moon
Does anyone have and experience with this hotel? The website looks lovely, but I did read 1 negative review.
Thanks. |
We will be staying there in Feb. I will be sure to post a review when we get back.

This hotel is on the same little sideroad as The Mariposa , Makanda , and Parador . We walked past it numerous times on the way down to Beisanz Beach , and also peeked in . It is very sweet , romantic and intimate looking . I would not hesitate to stay there . ( Quiet area ) Faith

Jenniemojo,
Wish we'd be there the same time so we could say hello. Don't think we will though. From what I've seen, looks like we all made a good choice on the Mango Moon! And I think we also made a good choice going to the Osa for a few days afterward. Hope you have a great vaction. NDrake |
I just returned from a stay at the Mango Moon. I was thrilled with our stay there. It has a beautiful view of the jungle and ocean, freat breakfast each morning with monkeys coming by to check out the food! The American owners were very nice and helpful with all of my questions. I highly reccomend them. Lisa

I'm so glad to hear about the positive feedback about Mango Moon. I just made reservations and was a little worried but now I'm not. The lady definitely seems nice over the phone.
I'll be there Feb 26-Mar 1, is anyone there at that time. |
We loved the Mango Moon. Jeff and Joni were very hospital and arranged a nice candelight engagement dinner for us. Jeff plays guitar, and is very talented. Nice sunsets, and service! I'd recommend it to anyone.

Quick question for those of you who have been at Mango Moon...how steep is the walk from room to lobby/taxi? It looks very nice but I am traveling with someone with less than the best mobility.
Please advise. Thanks. |
I am also considering Mango Moon, but I am concerned it might be a little too intimate and romantic for our family of four, two adults and 17 year old son and 16 year old daughter. We are also considering Si Como No. Mango Moon will be far less expensive for us, but often you get what you pay for. If someone could expand a little on what the grounds (ie pool)are like at Mango Moon, and does it seem like a family place or mainly just for couples, this would be a big help. Thanks.

Families are welcome , but it does have a small , intimate inn feel to it .... There will not be a ton of people around the pool etc.. . as there are not many rooms . If you like small , quiet places it will be fine . Did you check Costa Verde , Villas Nicolas ....

I just stayed at Mango Moon. This is a small intimate inn and the rooms and lobby are in the same building so there is no steep walk btwn lobby and rooms. Depending where your room is located, there would be open air stairs to the main lobby. however, there is a room located on the main floor so no stairs would be involved here (except 1 flight down to the pool). Ask the owner Joni and I'm sure she will be helpful.
While we were there, the guests were mostly couples...I didn't see any kids and the pool area is small. However, depending on your kids, it may be fine. From what I read, Si Como is geared towards kids. |
We stayed at Mango Moon in Feb. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay there again. The hotel is small and quiet which we enjoyed. We were there with our two children and in Feb. there were other families there as well. Every morning a troup of monkies would come through during breakfast. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

If you stay at Si Como No, your kids would enjoy the pool, but you all might not leave to go to the beach. If you're going to Costa Rica and want to experience the country, you'll want to stay at a smaller hotel that gives you personal service, advice on tours, sets up the tours. Mango Moon is nice enough for a family and I'm sure you'd be happy with it.
