Malaria shots needed for the yucatan?

I was wondering if many people get these shots if they will be on the Riviera Maya coast (Puerto Morelos down to Tulum)
Will be staying in Dec.and Jan.----are the mosquitos still out during the cooler months?
Thanks!

i've never heard of anyone getting the shots for that part of mexico. it's a well-developed area, not very remote.

Well, unless you plan to be in the jungle, malaria might not be needed. You might talk with your family doctor about what your options are. Maybe a Hepititus A shot and a tetnus shot would be in order. The last place you want to be is in a Mexican emergency room!

Hepatitis and tetanus are always a good idea to have updated. I haven't ever heard of a shot for malaria but you can take pills. Some people have a bad reaction to them though. You are probably better off to just use a good mosquito repellent.

Take a mosquito repellent with DEET in it, and take ALOT!!! These bugs down there in Mexico will pick you up & TAKE YOU AWAY!
